My First Morning in Jamaica

Standard

It’s not Shakespeare but it’s mine and I’ve done it. Thirty poems in thirty days. I can’t believe I really wrote a poem every day.

The sun seemed brighter in the sky
On my first morning in Jamaica
When I went to the pier with my brother
The oldest child in my family

On my first morning in Jamaica
I watched the boys dive in the water
With the oldest child in my family
And saw men working on the docks

I watched the boys dive in the water
As the tourists tossed coins in the water
And saw men working on the docks
With a real sailing ship nearby

The tourists tossed coins in the water
Water clear enough to see the bottom
And a real sailing ship was nearby
On that morning as I watched the boys dive

The water was clear enough to see the bottom
When I went to the pier with my brother
On that morning as I watched the boys dive
When the sun seemed brighter in the sky

About windwalker07

I'm a Jamerican; American born of 2 Jamaican parents. I am a voracious reader, a writer, a wife and a mother of 5 (1 girl). My favorite genre is science fiction but I will read anything. my favorite author right now is Lee Child (this changes often) I listen to all kinds of music but my favorites are jazz, Latin-jazz and classical. I write whatever comes to me and I've learned to start whether I have something or not.
