Three Wishes.

Standard

I chose a poetry prompt that suggested writing a poem in the style of a lullaby, so here’s my effort.

If I had three wishes
Here’s what I’d wish
I’d wish for you to love me
And give me a kiss

The second wish I’d use
In a very smart way
I’d wish you’d be happy
All throughout the day

Third and final wish
This one I’d not waste
I’d guard it most carefully
Not use it in haste

I’d wish for you health
And also wealth too
These are the three wishes
That I’d make for you.

Swing

Standard

Wouldn’t you like to go up in a swing
And never come down again
Just fly through the air like a bird on a wing
And stay up there hanging and then

When you come down at a time that you choose
After seeing the world from up there
It all will seem different, with nothing to lose
And your life will feel lighter than air

You see when the way you see things has been altered
You’ll better appreciate life
The bonds will be broken that once had you haltered
There’ll be decrease in trouble and strife.

Okay, see; this is what happens when you wait until the last thing at night to you write your poetry.

The Man who made No Mistakes

Standard

He took a deep breath and apologized
The man who made no mistake
What I meant to say was Paladin
And don’t bring the dead man awake

The man who made no mistake
Wasn’t happy to have to admit
And don’t bring the dead man awake
‘Cause he might end up having a fit

He wasn’t happy to admit
That his tongue had slipped up on the rhyme
Causing him to maybe have a fit
Since he didn’t catch it in time

His tongue had slipped up on the rhyme
And the word Paladín was revised
Since he didn’t catch it in time, So
He took a deep breath and apologized
